The difference between a life of success and a life of significance is, well… significant. When we define a person’s success, we’re usually talking about things they’ve achieved, possessions they’ve obtained, or something they’ve become. Success is often calculated by tallying those gains which a person didn’t have in the first place. In contrast, a life of significance requires nothing external. We can be significant with or without material landmarks. A life of significance is far more concerned with what we give to others, than what we gather for ourselves. Take the famous actor or star athlete - their success is derived from statistics (how much their movies gross, how many touchdowns they score). But their significance is determined by how they affect others - and more importantly, how they make others feel. From an attraction perspective, your significance also stems from how YOU feel - about yourself, about others, and about the world. Always remember, you are significant right now, in this moment. Nothing needs to happen. You matter, just as you are. This isn’t to say you shouldn’t have goals. Nor is it wrong to strive for success. It may prove more fruitful though if you dig just a little deeper and ask yourself, “What is it I really want?” Then, as you move toward your desires, ask yourself one more question: “Am I making a difference in the lives of others?” A ‘yes’ answer not only reveals your true significance - it’s ultimately the key to your happiness.
